WHAT: The 2nd annual Maine Event

A sanctioned tournament, rated by the North American Scrabble Players Association

WHEN: September 5-7, 2009
Saturday: 8 rounds starting at 9 AM
Sunday: 8 rounds starting at 9 AM
Monday: 4 rounds starting at 9 AM

WHERE: The Wyndham Portland Airport hotel

FORMAT: Limited to THE FIRST 88 PLAYERS who register.  Division 1 will be based upon the 28 highest
rated players as of 9/1/09.  Rounds 1-14 will be a split round robin, followed by groups of quads, then
1-4 1-3 and 1-2.  Divisions 2-4 will be groups of 20 playing a round-robin plus KOTH.  The lowest
division will be adjusted if fewer than 88 players are registered.

WHO: Director Joey Mallick and assistant director Tim Fukawa-Connelly do all that they can to ensure you
that this year's Maine Event will be even bigger and better than the 2008 version!  Tile distribution may
not be in the director or co-director's control.

FEE: $99 for all divisions.  Add $10 if not postmarked by 8/11/09.  Entries after 8/31/09 will only be
considered for evening of divisions.  If you are not staying at the Wyndham Portland Airport hotel, there
is a $15 commuter fee.

PRIZES: At least 65% of entry fees will be returned as prizes, including a "surprise prize" for the best
word including the most MAINE letters.  At least one other surprise is planned as well, but you can only
find out by showing up.  So show up, please!
